Mount Washington Honor Summit: September 11 Tribute

Two pillars of light. One powerful moment of remembrance.

From September 9 through 12, 2026, two brilliant pillars of light will rise from the summit of Mount Washington, illuminating the night sky in remembrance of September 11.

Created to commemorate the 25th anniversary of 9/11, the Mount Washington Honor Summit will honor the lives lost, the first responders who answered the call, the veterans who served in the years that followed, and all those whose lives were forever changed by that day.

Beginning at 8 p.m. each evening, the twin beams will extend approximately four and a half miles above the highest peak in the Northeast. On clear nights, the tribute may be visible from communities throughout the White Mountains and well beyond—creating a shared opportunity to pause, look toward Mount Washington, and remember together.
