October Week 1 – 2026

North Conway Area Foliage Update — October 5, 2026

Western White Mountains & Franconia Notch
The western Whites are leading the region’s fall display. Early October regional reports estimate foliage at 90–95% of the way to peak, with reds, oranges, and yellows spreading across the hillsides. Franconia Notch and the Lincoln–Woodstock area offer excellent opportunities for scenic drives and foliage stops.

Northern White Mountains
Areas north of the notches are about 85% of the way to peak! Golden yellows mixed with vibrant reds and oranges, creating impressive mountain views. A drive through Crawford Notch and into the northern communities like Gorham and Berlin offers plenty of seasonal scenery.

Eastern White Mountains & Mount Washington Valley
North Conway and the surrounding Mount Washington Valley still have considerable color ahead. Regional estimates place the North Conway area around 50–55%, with colorful patches appearing among the remaining green. This developing display gives visitors more opportunities as October progresses.

Southern White Mountains
The southern region is estimated around 45%, with color continuing to build across the area. Freedom, Tamworth, and Madison are exceptional this week and will remain so!
