The Mount Washington Valley Choral Society presents two choral masterworks for the holiday season from the Baroque era: Francesco Durante’s “Magnificat,” and Antonio Vivaldi’s “Gloria.” The choir is accompanied by a chamber orchestra of period instruments. The program also features selections from the earlier Renaissance era that heavily influenced later generations, including Michael Praetorius’ beloved “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming” from 1599, and Thomas Luis de Victoria’s “O Magnum Mysterium” (O Great Mystery) from 1572. George Wiese conducts from the harpsichord.
This program brought to you by our “Come to Classical” series; Music of the past connecting humanity across the ages. Come to classical and experience that connection through this beautiful, uplifting holiday choir program.
